ConferenceRegOpen2014Event Provides Affordable Housing Education and Networking Opportunities

BISMARCK, ND – North Dakota Housing Finance Agency (NDHFA) will host the 24th Annual Statewide Housing Conference on Feb. 25-26, 2015, at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck, ND.

The conference provides an opportunity for housing industry professionals and community leaders to network and learn about technical and financial resources that address North Dakota’s affordable housing challenges. The theme of this year’s event is “Change. Challenge. Opportunity.” with many of the sessions focusing on the state’s shifting demographics.

“North Dakota is getting younger and much more diverse as countless families move to the state from all over the country and the world to take advantage of our rapid economic growth,” said Jolene Kline, NDHFA executive director.

Keynote speakers include Scott Burrows, whose riveting story of overcoming adversity through sheer determination, will power and goal setting is uplifting and infectious; Kenneth W. Gronbach, an internationally respected demographer who forecasts societal, commercial, economic, cultural and political phenomena with uncanny accuracy; and Kostas Voutsas, who will share strategies for making cultural and generational diversity work.

Breakout session topics include presentations on the state’s changing demographic makeup, preparing lower income households for homeownership, handling requests for reasonable housing accommodations, developing a community housing plan, redeveloping underutilized properties, the current state of mortgage lending, mortgagee title insurance basics, and creating livable communities.

The conference registration fee on or before Feb. 18 is $150. One-day only registration is $80. North Dakota’s Real Estate Commission, Board of Social Work Examiners and Commission for Continuing Legal Education have all approved the event agenda for continuing education credit.
